Concordia Women's Basketball Falls at Home to Nyack, 69-54

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team hosted Nyack College for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game on Wednesday evening. Concordia was unable to come away with the victory as the Warriors captured a 69-54 win at the Meyer Athletic Center.

The first quarter saw Nyack jump out to the early 6-0 lead as the Clippers would get within a basket at 10-7 with 3:15 to go in the period. The Warriors would hold Concordia scoreless for the remainder of the quarter as Nyack used a 5-0 run to hold a 15-7 advantage after 10 minutes of play.

The Clippers began the second quarter with a 9-5 run to cut their deficit to 20-16 at the 5:20 mark. After a layup for the Warriors, Concordia rallied off eight unanswered points to take their first lead of the game, 24-22, with just over a minute to go in the half. Nyack would make one of two free throws at the end of the quarter as the Clippers went into the locker room with a 24-23 lead.

Concordia began the third quarter scoreless for the first 3:30 of the period as the Warriors would regain the lead. Both sides would change leads midway through the period until Nyack used an 8-0 run to open up a 37-32 advantage with 2:21 to go in the quarter. The Clippers could not cut into the deficit in the closing minutes of the period as the Warriors held a 44-37 lead going into the last quarter.

A 6-2 run for Nyack to begin the fourth quarter allowed the visitors to hold a 50-39 advantage at the 6:46 mark. The Warriors would use another run to maintain their advantage on the scoreboard as Concordia was unable to mount a comeback, falling 69-54.

Junior Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Clippers with 14 points while sophomore Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) came off the bench to score 13 points. Sophomore Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 13 points to go along with nine points while senior Khadijah Donaldson (Valley Stream, N.Y.) finished with a career-high 12 rebounds.

Concordia (3-13, 1-8 CACC) will next travel to Wilmington (Del.) on Friday afternoon. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, but has been moved up a day because of the threatening snowstorm being forecasted. Tip-off in Newark, Del.
