Concordia Concludes York Invitational on Sunday

Bronx, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers cross country teams concluded their third event of the 2012 season on Sunday afternoon. The women would finish in 14th within a field of 15 teams while the men finished in 14th out of 14 teams at the York Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park.

In the men's 8K race, sophomore Daniel Koehler (Glendale, N.Y.) led the team with a time of 35:11 finishing in 63rd overall. Junior's Martin Miedzowicz (Montevideo, Uruguay) and James Ebersole (San Antonio, Texas) would finish two positions apart with times of 36:45 and 37:08. Sophomores Ian Lescouflair (Bronx, N.Y.) and Jake Matranga (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) rounded out the Clippers' team with times of 47:48 and 47:59.

In the women's 6K race, freshman Emily Schwiederek (Bridgewater, N.J.) led the team with a time of 29:37 finishing in 22nd overall. Senior Chanessa Blakemore (Albany, N.Y.) would place in second for Concordia with a time of 37:21. Junior Katherine Spreitzer (New York, N.Y.) crossed the finish line with a time of 41:18 while juniors Jennie Heisler (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Arafat Omidiran (Nigeria) both rounded out the finishing order for the Clippers with times of 42:22.

The men and women will both be back in action on Sunday, October 14th in the St. John's Fall Festival at Cunningham Park in Queens, N.Y.
