Clippers Finish Event at MSMC Knight Invite

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers cross country teams concluded their second event of the 2012 season on Saturday afternoon. The women would finish in 13th within a field of 15 teams while the men finished in 15th out of 16 teams at the MSMC Knight Invite at Chadwick Lake Park.

In the women's 5K race, freshman Emily Schwiederek (Bridgewater, N.J.) led the team with a time of 24:38 finishing in 53rd overall. Junior Jennie Heisler (Buffalo, N.Y.) would place in second for Concordia with a time of 25:26. Junior Arafat Omidiran (Nigeria) crossed the finish line with a time of 31:48 while Senior Chanessa Blakemore (Albany, N.Y.) and junior Katherine Spreitzer (New York, N.Y.) rounded out the finishing order for the Clippers with times of 34:05 and 34:16, respectively.

In the men's 8K race, junior Martin Miedzowicz (Montevideo, Uruguay) and sophomore Daniel Koehler (Glendale, N.Y.) would finish five seconds apart with times of 36:40 and 36:45 for Concordia. Junior James Ebersole (San Antonio, Texas) ended the race with a time of 37:26. Sophomores Ian Lescouflair (Bronx, N.Y.) and Jake Matranga (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) rounded out the Clippers' team with times of 46:19 and 51:02.

The men and women will both be back in action on Saturday, October 7th in the York Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx, N.Y. The women are set to begin their race at 10am while the men will start at 11am.
