QUEENS, N.Y. – Freshman defensive specialist Lydimar Soto De Los Santos (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) established a pair career-high on Saturday afternoon, including the second-most service aces in a match in the Concordia College New York women's volleyball record book, helping the Clippers jump out to an early 2-0 overall lead before host Queens College (N.Y.) rallied and took the ensuing three games in a 3-2 (23-25, 19-25, 25-23, 25-20, 15-10) setback.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• De Los Santos recorded her second collegiate double-double behind a personal-best 17 digs and 10 kills on top of her six aces.
• Freshman middle blocker Madison Gardner (Oak Hills, Calif.) tallied 11 kills on a .286 clip with two aces and two assisted blocks.
• Freshman middle blocker Tanializ Rivera (Caroline, Puerto Rico) matched Gardner for the team-lead in kills with 11 to go with one assisted block.
• Sophomore right-side hitter Militza De Hostos (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) dished out a 17 assists with 16 digs for her ninth double-double of the season.
• Junior libero Nelly Diaz (Land O Lakes, Fla.) boasted 27 digs.
• Senior setter Alana Rousset-Hernandez (Canovanas, Puerto Rico) dished out a team-best 21 assists with two service and nine digs.
• Sophomore outside hitter Nilka Rivera (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) matched her career-high with one solo block and three assisted.
• For Queens, Lauren Kehoe boasted 20 digs with 13 kills, four aces and three assisted while Alisha Matthews dished out 44 assists with 11 digs and four aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Concordia overcame an early 6-2 deficit in the opening set behind a 9-3 stretch that knotted the score at 11-all, eventually taking a 14-12 lead. Queens responded with a 3-0 spurt to reclaim the lead at 15-14, with the two sides going back-and forth until a late 3-0 run with the score tied gave the Clippers a 22-19 lead.
• The Clippers scored the initial two points of the second set, and five of the opening six, to take an early lead that they never surrendered. Queens managed to knot the score at 18-18 behind a 6-2 rally, but Concordia ended the frame on a 7-1 run.
• With the score tied at 20-20 late in the third set, Queens scored four-straight to force set point at 24-20. Concordia ended the run with a kill, only for Queens to finish the frame with a kill of its own.
• Concordia used a 5-0 run after Queens scored the opening point of the fourth set to take the lead, maintaining it until an 8-3 stretch propelled the host to a 17-15 lead. The Knights held the Clippers without back-to-back points for the duration of the stanza, ending the set with the final four points.
• The Clippers responded to a 2-0 start by the host in the fifth set with three-straight points to take an early lead, only for an equal retort by Queens creating a 5-3 score. Concordia evened the tally behind back-to-back points only for a 5-1 stretch by the Knights propelling them to a 10-6 edge. The visiting side tried to stage a late rally facing match point, scoring back-to-back points before a Queens kill ended the contest.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Concordia finished the match with 49 kills on a .149 hitting percentage versus 53 on a .164 clip for Queens.
• Concordia held a 91-88 advantage in digs.
• Concordia served 14 aces, the host served 16.
• Concordia recorded one solo block with 10 assisted for six total while Queens had one solo and 18 assisted for 10 total.
