Volleyball Kicks Off Athletic Department’s 2019 Homecoming Schedule Friday Against Wilmington; Travels To Queens Saturday

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College New York women's volleyball team kicks off the athletic department's 2019 Homecoming and Alumni Weekend schedule on Friday, Oct. 18 with a 5 p.m. Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) showdown against Wilmington University (Del.) before dipping out of conference play on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Queens in a 1 p.m. match.

About the Clippers
Concordia (3-6, 3-6 CACC) returns to the friendly confines of the Meyer Athletic Center after falling in a five-set match at Caldwell University on Wednesday, Oct. 16. The Clippers boast a CACC-leading 17.67 digs per set with 10.67 kills on a .129 hitting percentage on top of 1.36 blocks and 1.33 service aces.

Freshman middle blockers Madison Gardner (Oak Hills, Calif.) sparks the offense behind a team-best 2.56 kills with a 0.81 blocks per set rate that ranks eighth in the CACC and 0.39 service aces. Junior libero Nelly Diaz (Land O Lakes, Fla.) boasts the fourth-highest dig per set average in the league at 4.94, while sophomore right-side hitter Militza De Hostos (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) dishes out a team-best 4.50 assists.

About the Wildcats
Wilmington (14-7, 6-3 CACC) enters Friday's matchup riding a four-match winning streak, most recently besting Goldey-Beacom College 3-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 16. The Wildcats lead the conference in service aces and blocks behind rates of 2.69 and 2.13 while their 11.54 kills, 10.90 assists and .185 hitting percentage all rank third within the CACC.

Bailey Andrews sparks the Wildcats' attack behind 2.98 kills, getting her feeds from Sarah Couch who dishes out 9.88 assists that ranks second in the league on top of a conference-best 0.59 service aces. Rebecca Rawlinson boasts a CACC-leading 1.11 blocks per set, while Elly Collins chips in a team-leading 4.87 digs that ranks fifth in the conference.

About the Knights
Queens (1-13, 0-5 ECC) hosts Concordia after dropping a 3-0 decision at Mercy College on Wednesday, Oct. 16. The Knights average 6.9 kills on a .086 clip with 11.5 digs, 6.3 assists, 1.6 service aces and 1.3 blocks.

Dee-Ann Mitchel paces the Knights behind a team-high 2.38 digs and 1.87 kills, getting her passes from Alisha Matthews who records a team-leading 5.60 assists on top of 0.44 service aces while Alexis Deodat boasts a team-best 0.71 blocks
