Volleyball Entertains Chestnut Hill Saturday

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College New York women's volleyball team faces off against its first opponent from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division this season on Saturday, Oct. 5 when Chestnut Hill College comes to the Meyer Athletic Center for a 6 p.m. match.

About the Clippers
Concordia (2-3, 2-3 CACC) returns to the friendly confines of the Meyer Athletic Center after dropping a five-set match at Felician University on Wednesday, Oct. 2. The Clippers lead the CACC, and rank 16th amongst all National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II programs with 18.67 digs per set on top of 10.86 kills on a .126 hitting percentage with 1.43 blocks and 1.24 service aces.

Freshmen middle blockers Madison Gardner (Oak Hills, Calif.) and Tanializ Rivera (Carolina, Puerto Rico) each record 2.29 kills per set which ties for the team lead, while Gardner ranks in the top-10 of the CACC in blocks and service aces behind rates of 0.76 and 0.52 with each sitting seventh. Junior libero Nelly Diaz (Land O Lakes, Fla.) boasts a CACC-leading 5.38 digs per set average, going into the weekend as 29th-highest rate in Division II.

About the Griffins
Chestnut Hill (5-7, 2-2 CACC) hosts Post University on Friday, Oct. 4 before making the trip to Bronxville riding a two-match winning streak, most recently defeating defending CACC Champion and 2018 NCAA East Regional Finalist Holy Family University 3-2 on Saturday, Sept. 28. The Griffins average 10.49 kills on a .174 clip with 15.68 digs, 9.34 assists, 1.62 service aces and 1.10 blocks.

Corrine Kalala leads the CHC attack behind 2.62 kills on a .231 hitting percentage, getting her feeds from Henielys Ramos who dishes out a team-high 4.40 assists per set. Reily Byxbee anchors a balanced defensive effort with a team-leading 2.79 digs, with Regan Baldwin boasting a team-best 0.56 blocks while Kerri Sullivan serves a team-high 0.63 aces.
