Women’s Volleyball Hosts Caldwell Wednesday For Dig Pink Night

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College (N.Y.) volleyball team begins the final week of the regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 31 with a home Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tilt against Caldwell University at 6 p.m. The Volleyball program will be selling raffle tickets in the Meyer Athletic Center for an Alex & Ani Bracelet (Breast Cancer Research Foundation Charm) the day of the match, with the proceeds going towards the SIDE-OUT Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. The raffle drawing is set to take place following the match.

Concordia (1-20, 1-16 CACC) returns to the Meyer Athletic Center, where it most recently bested Dominican College (N.Y.) 3-0 on Saturday, Oct. 20, after wrapping up the road slate with a 3-0 setback at Wilmington University (Del.) on Saturday, Oct. 27. The Clippers average 8.70 kills per set on a .088 hitting percentage with 14.73 digs, 7.99 assists, 1.70 service aces and 1.03 blocks.

Junior right-side hitter Tatienne Tugade-Sua (Kalihi, Hawaii) paces the Clippers, and ranks ninth in the CACC, with 3.47 digs per set on top of 2.15 kills. Senior setter Bianca Ortiz (Ponce, Puerto Rico) orchestrates the offense with 5.75 assists while serving 0.36 aces with senior middle blocker Lauren Peters (Monterey Park, Calif.) recording a team-best 0.59 blocks.

About the Cougars
Caldwell (11-16, 10-7 CACC) hosts Queens College (N.Y.) on Tuesday, Oct. 30 before traveling to Bronxville. The Cougars head into the final week of the regular season averaging 11.51 kills per set on a .183 clip with 13.95 digs, 10.77 assists, 1.77 blocks and 1.56 service aces.

Elise Smith powers the CU attack with the second-best kill per set rate in the conference at 3.87 on a .237 hitting percentage, getting her feeds from Samantha Ashton who leads four Cougars that average over 1.00 assists with 6.99 while Alejandra L. Montes serves a team-best 0.40 aces. Humiko Stormer anchors the defense with 4.12 digs, sixth-best in the CACC, with Katie Compagno boasting a team-leading 0.86 blocks that ranks fourth in the league.

Concordia concludes the 2018 campaign on Saturday, Nov. 3 against Felician University in CACC play at 1 p.m.
