Women’s Volleyball Bests Dominican 3-0 For Homecoming Victory

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College (N.Y.) volleyball team hosted Dominican College (N.Y.) on Saturday evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play, ending the Clippers' 2018 Homecoming schedule with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-22) victory over the visiting Chargers.

NOTES
• Concordia improves to 1-17 on the season, 1-13 in the CACC.

• Dominican falls to 3-20, 3-12 in league play.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Senior Derilis Valerio (Perth Amboy, N.J.) powered the offense with a career-high 11 kills on a personal-best .385 clip with five digs and a pair off assisted blocks.

• Junior right-side hitter Tatienne Tugade-Sua (Kalihi, Hawaii) anchored the defense with 12 digs while logging eight terminations and a career-high four service aces.

• Senior setter Bianca Ortiz (Ponce, Puerto Rico) fell one dig away from a double-double with 21 assists and nine digs while service three aces and assisted on a pair of blocks.

• Junior defensive specialist Alana Rousset-Hernandez (Canovanas, Puerto Rico) served a personal-best four aces while chipping in three digs.

• Senior middle blocker Lauren Peters (Monterey Park, Calif.) recorded three assisted blocks. Her 39 total blocks on the season is a personal best.

• For Dominican, Malia Robinson posted seven kills while Sara Hayward logged 12 assists and Natalia Perez chipped in 10 digs.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
• Concordia scored the opening three points of the opening frame and never trailed in the set. The Clippers led by as many as 13 in the stanza, using an 8-0 run to take a 19-6 advantage.

• Trailing 3-2 early, Concordia scored 11-consecutive points to create a double-digit lead at 13-3 with the Clippers keeping the separation at 10 or higher for the remainder of the frame.

• Dominican began the third stanza with three of the opening four points to take an early 3-1 lead, with the Chargers maintaining the advantage for the bulk of the set until a late 8-2 rally propelled Concordia to a 20-19 edge. The Chargers responded with a point to even the score at 20-all with the score tying again at 21-21 before the hosts scored four of the ensuing five points to end the match.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
• Concordia finished the match with 30 kills on a season-best .224 hitting percentage versus 22 on a .042 clip for Dominican.

• Concordia held a 39-36 advantage in digs.

• The hosts served 15 aces, the Chargers served two.

• Concordia recorded one solo block with 10 assisted for 6.0 total while Bloomfield had two solo and four assisted for 4.0 total.
