Rabassa Records First Double-Double For Women’s Volleyball In 3-1 Setback Against Bloomfield

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College (N.Y.) volleyball team hosted Bloomfield College on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the visiting Bears 3-1 (18-25, 25-15, 25-17, 25-21) in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.

NOTES
• Concordia drops to 0-12 on the season, 0-10 in the CACC.

• Bloomfield improves to 3-17, 3-6 in league play.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Junior outside hitter Camila Rabassa (Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico) recorded her first collegiate double-double with a team-high 11 kills and 12 digs.

• Junior right-side hitter Tatienne Tugade-Sua (Kalihi, Hawaii) logged her fourth double-double of the season with a team-best 18 digs and 10 kills while serving two aces.

• Senior setter Bianca Ortiz (Ponce, Puerto Rico) posted her second double-double of the campaign with 28 assists and 12 digs while serving two aces and assisting on one block.

• Senior middle blocker Lauren Peters (Monterey Park, Calif.) blocked two shots (one solo, one assisted) with four kills.

• For Bloomfield, Destiny King boasted 12 kills on a .556 hitting percentage with five blocks (two solo, three assisted) while Laityn Sarna dished out 24 assists and Junelly Mareero recorded 24 digs.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
• After surrendering the opening two points, Concordia scored four straight and held the lead for the remainder of the set. Bloomfield knotted the score at 5-all and again at 6-6, but back-to-back Concordia tallies created a two-point separation with the Clippers preventing the visitors from evening the score again in a 25-18 stanza.

• With a 7-6 score in favor of Bloomfield, the Bears scored nine-straight to create a double-digit deficit at 16-6. Concordia tried to stage a late rally with a 6-0 run to make it 23-14 only for Bloomfield to score two of the ensuing three points to end the set.

• Bloomfield let the entire third frame, scoring the opening two points. The Clippers managed to cut the separation to one midway through the stanza with a 5-0 spree to make it 15-14, but an equal retort from the Bears created a 20-14 score.

• Concordia jumped out to an early 7-2 advantage in the fourth set, but a 7-1 Bloomfield response evened the score at 8-all. The Clippers regained the edge with three-straight points before a 5-0 rally by Bloomfield gave the visitors a 13-11 lead. Concordia reclaimed the lead late with a 3-0 spurt to make it 20-18 before a 5-1 run by the Bears ended the match.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
• Concordia finished the match with 42 kills on a .073 hitting percentage versus 44 on a .154 clip for Bloomfield.

• Concordia held a 70-65 advantage in digs.

• The hosts served five aces, the Bears served four.

• Concordia recorded one solo block with four assisted while Bloomfield had two solo and 14 assisted.

Concordia takes a hiatus from CACC action on Friday, Oct. 5 with a road tilt at Southern Conn. State. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
