PHILADELPHIA – The Concordia College (N.Y.) women's volleyball team took on the University of the Sciences on Tuesday evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest, falling to the host Devils 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 25-21, 25-15)
NOTES
• Concordia drops to 0-9 overall, 0-7 in CACC play
• USciences improves to 4-9, 3-4 in CACC action.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Freshman outside hitter Nilka Rivera (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) paced the offense with a career-high 13 kills while chipping in nine digs and a service ace.
• Junior defensive specialist Alana Rousset-Hernandez (Canovanas, Puerto Rico) matched her career-high with 24 digs. Her 139 digs on the season broke her previous season record of 125, set last season.
• Senior setter Bianca Ortiz (Perth Amboy, N.J.) dished out a season-high 34 assists to go with eight digs, two service aces and an assisted block.
• Senior middle blocker Lauren Peters (Monterey Park, Calif.) recorded the Clippers lone solo block of the contest to go with one assisted block.
• Junior right-side hitter Tatienne Tugade-Sua (Kalihi, Hawaii) recorded 19 digs with eight kills. Her 135 digs on the season surpassed her previous season high of 126 set last season.
• For USciences, Sarah Miller logged 13 kills while Caelin Jaskot recorded 42 assists and Rhiannon Comia had 21 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Concordia jumped out to an early 4-1 lead, but a 7-2 stretch for the Devils propelled them to an 8-6 advantage. The Clippers responded with a 9-2 run to push ahead 15-10 and held onto the lead until a late 8-1 rally created set point for the Devils at 24-21 with the hosts taking the opening set two plays later.
• Concordia trailed for the bulk of the second set, taking a late lead at 20-19 after a 4-1 rally. The host scored the ensuing point to make it 20-all before five-straight points for the Clippers evened the overall score.
• The two sides exchanged the opening 22 points of the third set before a 6-2 stretch for Concordia gave the visitors a 17-13 lead. USciences responded with five-straight points to flip the advantage, and kept Concordia at bay for the remainder of the Stanza to take it 25-21.
• With the score tied 7-all early in the fourth frame, USciences went on an 11-1 run to create a double-digit separation at 18-8. Concordia responded with three-straight points only for four-straight tallies for the hosts making it 22-11.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Concordia finished the match with 40 kills on a .103 hitting percentage versus 52 on a .171 clip for USciences.
• Both sides finished with 70 digs.
• USciences held a 10-5 advantage in service aces.
• Concordia recorded one solo block and four assisted while USciences had four solo and 12 assisted blocks.

Concordia heads to Caldwell on Friday, Sept. 28 for a CACC contest. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
