Clippers Women's Volleyball Tops Dominican (N.Y.) on the Road, 3-0

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - The Concordia Clippers women's volleyball team visited Dominican College (N.Y.) on Tuesday evening for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division match. Concordia would earn their second victory in a row as the Clippers topped the Chargers, 3-0, at the Hennessy Center.

In the first set Concordia began with six unanswered points to begin the set as the Clippers led 10-2 before Dominican called a timeout. The Chargers answered with a 3-0 run, but Concordia would us a 12-2 run to lead 22-7 near the end of the set. The Clippers put the set away, 25-9, as Concordia took a 1-0 set lead.

Dominican began the second set with a 6-1 advantage and led 8-3 when the Clippers called a timeout to regroup. From here Concordia would use a 13-3 run to open up a lead of their own, 16-11, midway through the set. The Clippers would not allow the home team to mount a late comeback as Concordia took the set, 25-18, to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.

The third set saw neither side being able to take a sizable lead until a 7-0 run for the Clippers allowed them to lead 13-5. Later in the set Concordia would score six unanswered points to lead 20-8 as the home team was struggling offensively. The Clippers put the match away with a 5-1 run to end the set as Concordia took a 25-11 victory to earn a 3-0 sweep over the Chargers.

Sophomore Tatienne Tugade-Sua (Kalihi, Hawaii) led the offense for the Clippers with seven kills as senior Delaney Stuhr (Thornton, Colo.) added five kills. Senior Jenny Martin (Simi Valley, Calif.) finished with a team-high 13 assists while senior Celine Arada (San Francisco, Calif.) led the defense for Concordia with nine digs.

The Clippers (4-12, 4-11 CACC) will return home on Thursday for the first of three straight matches in the Meyer Athletic Center.
