Women's Volleyball Falls at Home to Nyack, 3-0

Bronxville, N.Y. - The Concordia Clippers women's volleyball team battled Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division foe Nyack College on Wednesday evening in the Meyer Athletic Center. The Warriors would come away with a victory, their ninth of the season, after claiming a 3-0 win.

The first set would begin with the teams tied at 5-5 until six unanswered points by Nyack allowed the visitors to take an 11-5 advantage. The Warriors would continue to open up their advantage on the scoreboard and took the opening set 25-16.

Nyack would continue their momentum in the second set by jumping out to an early 10-3 lead. Following a timeout by Concordia, they would begin to hold their ground and after four straight points later in the set the Clippers trailed 18-12. The Warriors would put the set away for good to take a 2-0 advantage in the match after a 25-16 second set victory.

In the third set Concordia would fall behind by double digits until a four point rally by the Clippers forced Nyack to call a timeout at 20-14. The Warriors continued to maintain their lead and would close out the match after a 25-18 third set win.

Senior Irina Impellittiere (Cold Spring, N.Y.) recorded a team-high seven kills for Concordia to lead the offense while junior Leina Braga (Salvador, Brazil) added five kills. Senior Hillary Hoffman (East Meadow, N.Y.) recorded a team-high 19 assists while Impellittiere and Hoffman both recorded seven digs on the defensive end.

The Clippers (1-7, 1-7 CACC) will be back on the road this weekend for a matchup in Lakewood, N.J. as Concordia will visit Georgian Court on Saturday at 12 p.m. for their only regular season match of the season.
