Clippers Drop 3-1 Decision at Nyack

Nyack, N.Y. – The Clippers women's volleyball team were on the road to face Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division opponent Nyack College on Wednesday evening. Concordia managed to win one set in the match but could not secure the victory, falling 3-1 to the Warriors.

Nyack opened the match by scoring 16 unanswered points as the Clippers fell behind. The team could not rebound as they fell in the opening set 25-12. Concordia would fight back to tie the match with a second set victory, 25-23. In the third set the Clippers held a 21-16 only to have the Warriors comeback for a 26-24 win and take a 2-1 advantage in the match.

The fourth set would be a close battle as well with Concordia trailing 24-21 at match point. The Clippers would tie the score at 24-24 but Nyack would record the last two points in the set to take a 26-24 victory and capture the match win.

Sophomore Leina Braga (Salvador, Brazil) led Concordia with a game-high 15 kills on the offensive end while senior Chelsea Zurcher (Crofton, Md.) and junior Irina Impellittiere (Cold Spring, N.Y.) added 11 kills apiece. Junior Alicia Vogel (Huntington Beach, Calif.) recorded a game-high 34 assists while junior Hillary Hoffman (East Meadow, N.Y.) recorded 12 digs on the defensive end.

The Clippers (2-11, 2-5 CACC) will host CACC North Division opponent Post University in their next match on Friday evening. The teams will take to the court of the Meyer Athletic Center at 6pm as Concordia will "Dig Pink" during the match to bring awareness and raise money towards battling breast cancer.
