Clippers Fall to Caldwell, 3-0

Caldwell, N.J. – The Clippers women's volleyball team were on the road Friday evening as they traveled to take on Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division opponent Caldwell College. Concordia dropped their ninth match of the season following a 3-0 defeat against the Cougars.

The Clippers opened the match with an early lead only to have Caldwell regain the lead after scoring six of seven points to take a 9-5 edge. Concordia would keep pace with the Cougars until a 9-1 run by Caldwell gave them a 25-13 first set victory.

In the second set the Clippers jumped out to an early 5-1 lead as Concordia held the lead until the Cougars tied the match at 17-17. From here Caldwell would slowly pull away only to have the Clippers score back-to-back points and trail 22-21. The Cougars then rallied off three straight points to take a 25-21 second set victory and hold a 2-0 lead in the match.

With Concordia needing a win in the final set to keep their hopes alive, the Clippers came out in the third set matching Caldwell point-for-point in the early going. After the score was knotted at 8-8 the Cougars scored six unanswered points to take the advantage on the scoreboard. Caldwell would never looked back as Concordia was unable to win the final set with a 25-15 defeat. The Cougars ended the set scoring seven of the final eight points against the Clippers for their 10th victory of the season.
