Clippers Drop CACC Opener at Post, 3-1

Waterbury, Conn. – The Concordia women's volleyball team opened up their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule on the road Thursday evening at Post. After the Clippers took the first set, the Eagles won the next three sets to take a 3-1 victory at the Drubner Center.

Concordia began the match by taking the first set, 25-23. After tying the match at 22-22 the Clippers took three of the final four points to win the set and take a 1-0 lead. The second set would be a close battle as well but this time Post won the final three points to take the second set, 25-22.

With the match tied the third set would prove to be critical in deciding which team would gain momentum. After closing the deficit to two points Concordia fell behind 21-14 and the Eagles held onto the lead and took the third set, 25-22.

Post only needed one more set victory to win the match as the Clippers looked to force a fifth set. Three straight points by Concordia gave them a 14-11 lead midway through. The Eagles responded to tie the score and take a 20-18 lead which forced the Clippers to take a timeout.

With Post leading 24-21, Concordia rallied off three straight points to tie the fourth set and keep their chances at forcing a fifth and final set. The Eagles responded with back-to-back points to win the set 26-24 and their first victory of the season.

Concordia (0-5, 0-1 CACC) will be back on the road tomorrow evening for a non-conference match. The Clippers will take on the Dowling Golden Lions at 4pm in Oakdale, N.Y.
