Concordia Drops a 3-0 Decision to Caldwell

Caldwell, NJ – The Concordia College Clippers women's volleyball team traveled to face Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Caldwell College this evening. In their second meeting this season, the Cougars took their second win from the Clippers winning 3-0.

Caldwell jumped out to an early lead in the first set, going on a 10-5 run to begin the set. Concordia was unable to stop the run and fell 25-11 to begin the night. In the second set, the Clippers kept the game close as they were only down 14-10 midway through the set. Another run by the Cougars put the second set away 25-16 to take a 2-0 lead.

Concordia knew that they had to make a statement in the final set as they matched Caldwell point-for-point to begin the third set. After the Clippers tied the game at 7-7, the Cougars went on an 18-8 run to close out the set taking a 25-15 final set victory, their 21st of the season.

Junior's Juliann Gillespie (Clarkston, MI) led the Clippers' offense with 10 kills while Courtney Hanson (Bellerose, NY) added four kills. Sophomore Hillary Hoffman (East Meadow, NY) recorded 18 assists while sophomore Brittany Chappas (Islip, NY) recorded 13 digs on the defensive end for Concordia.

The Clippers (5-18, 5-12 CACC) will be on the road again this Saturday, October 29th. Concordia will play in a tri-match hosted by Georgian Court University as they will face the Lions at 11am and C.W. Post at 1pm.
