Chargers Top Concordia, 3-0

Orangeburg, NY – The Concordia College Clippers women's volleyball team was defeated by Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Dominican College this evening. The Chargers won for the second time this season over the Clippers for their 13th win of the season.

Concordia jumped out to an early 5-3 lead in the first set but Dominican took the lead shortly thereafter. The Chargers would lead by as much as five points only to have it diminish when the Clippers tied the set at 19-19. Six straight points by Dominican gave them the first set victory, 25-19.

Concordia was down 14-7 midway through the second set and went on a 7-1 run to get back into the game. After a timeout by the Chargers, the Clippers were unable to keep their momentum going as Dominican won the second set 25-18.

The Chargers jumped out to an early lead in the third set and they never looked back. Concordia was able to get within seven points of the lead near the end of the set but Dominican was able to put the game away, 25-16.

Senior Amanda Margedant (La Habra Heights, CA) led the Clippers' offense with seven kills while first-year player Samantha Kurtzke (Montvale, NJ) added five kills. Irina Impellittiere (Cold Spring, NY) recorded eight digs on the defensive end for Concordia.

The Clippers (2-16, 2-10 CACC) will host the University of the Sciences this Saturday, October 15th. The 6pm match take place in the Meyer Athletic Center on the campus of Concordia College.
