Clippers Win 3-1 over Felician

Rutherford, NJ – The Concordia College Clippers women's volleyball team traveled to face Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Felician College this evening. Concordia was able to win their second game of the season after a four set battle (26-24, 18-25, 26-24, 25-20).

The Clippers managed to win the first set in a back-and-forth battle. When the set favored Felician 24-23, Concordia took a timeout to regroup. They were able to score three straight points to take the first set and began the match with an early lead.

In the second set, the Golden Falcons ran up a 14-5 lead. After the Clippers took a timeout, they attempted to get back into the set but the lead was too much for them to overcome. Felician was able to tie the match at 1-1 to get back into the game.

The third set would favor the Clippers and they won it the exact same way as their first set victory. The Golden Falcons led 24-23 and Concordia took a timeout to attempt another comeback. The Clippers were able to score three straight points once again to take the set 26-24 and move one set closer to the victory.

Concordia jumped out to a 10-2 fourth set lead and did not look back. Felician attempted to get back into the game as they went on a 14-4 to close the lead to 24-20. A kill by Samantha Kurtzke (Montvale, NJ) gave the Clippers the 25-20 victory.

Olivia Thompson (Peoria, AZ) led Concordia with 12 kills while Hillary Hoffman (East Meadow, NY) recorded 31 assists. On the defensive end, Irina Impellittiere (Cold Spring, NY) led the Clippers with 16 digs and the team accumulated 10 blocks in the match.

Concordia (2-15, 2-9 CACC) will be back on the road again this Thursday, October 13th. The Clippers will face Dominican (NY) for a 7pm match in Orangeburg, NY.
