Wildcats Hold Off Clippers 3-0

Bronxville, N.Y. – The Concordia (N.Y.) Clippers women's volleyball team were back at home after a brief two game road trip. Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) member Wilmington (Del.) made the visit to the Meyer Athletic Center for their yearly matchup. In a high intensity game by both sides, the Wildcats would prevail 3-0.

In the first set, the Wildcats jumped out to an early 12-6 lead behind solid defensive play. But the Clippers would even the score at 14-14 behind Courtney Hanson's (Bellerose, N.Y.) four kills during the stretch. From this point until the end of the set, both teams turned up the intensity as they traded points until the Wildcats were able to win the set 30-28 behind the final kill from Brooke Foskey (Elkton, Md.).

Set two began with Wilmington building a 12-5 lead and Irina Impellittiere (Cold Spring, N.Y.) helped the Clippers close the gap to 10-14. Attack Errors by Concordia late in the second set led to the Wildcats securing the 25-13 victory.

In the final set of the match, Wilmington jumped out to another early lead which the Clippers were unable to overcome. "Wilmington played a flawless game but it's tough to lose" stated Head Coach Patrick Dietz. "We are going to make changes and get better."

Concordia (0-8, 0-3 CACC) will play on the road in their next contest on Tuesday, Sept. 20th. Queens (N.Y.) will host the Clippers for a 7pm match which can be viewed via Live Stats through the link found on Concordia's official athletic website, ConcordiaClippers.com.
