Concordia Women's Tennis Earns 9-0 Victory at CACC Foe Post

MIDDLEBURY, Conn. - The Concordia Clippers women's tennis team returned to their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule on Thursday for a showdown at Post University. Concordia continued their unbeaten streak this fall after claiming a 9-0 victory.

The No. 3 duo of freshman Josefina Torres Martin (Miami, Fla.) and freshman Katrina Sta Cruz (Las Vegas, Nev.) began doubles play with an 8-0 sweep of Jessica Bergen and Sabrina Martino. Junior Tadi Mrewa (East London, South Africa) and freshman Franziska Putschbach (Moenchweiler, Germany) followed shortly thereafter with an 8-1 win over Juliana Seabra and Sarah Namazi in the No. 2 match. The Clippers would take the No. 1 match 8-5 as junior Kristel Kalm (Stockholm, Sweden) and sophomore Siri Victorsson (Stockholm, Sweden) topped Annika Janson and Brianna Miah to give Concordia the 3-0 advantage going into singles action.

Sta Cruz would earn a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 6 match against Martino and Putschbach was victorious against Namazi in the No. 5 match 6-2, 6-0. Mrewa would also take her match with ease after claiming a 6-1, 6-2 win over Bergen in the No. 4 match while Victorsson earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Janson in the No. 1 match. Torres Martin, in her No. 3 match, would top Seabra 6-2, 6-2 while Kalm battled her way to a 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (3) win against Miah in the No. 2 match to give the Clippers the 9-0 sweep.

Concordia (7-0, 6-0 CACC) will play their third straight match in as many days tomorrow afternoon at LIU Post. First serve for the non-conference match in Brookville, N.Y. is set for 3 p.m.
