Women’s Tennis Earns Sweep over Molloy, 9-0

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Concordia College women's tennis team hosted Molloy College on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference match at the Meyers Tennis Center. The Clippers would come away with the shutout victory, 9-0, against the Lions.

Molloy only traveled four healthy players as Concordia began the match taking the No. 3 doubles match by forfeit. The No. 2 duo of junior Tadi Mrewa (East London, South Africa) and freshman Franziska Putschbach (Moenchweiler, Germany) would come away with an 8-0 win against Christie Catterson and Samantha Bloecker while the No. 1 duo of junior Kristel Kalm (Stockholm, Sweden) and sophomore Siri Victorsson (Stockholm, Sweden) topped Danielle Bloecker and Montaine Le Goupil-Maier, 8-1.

For singles play, the Clippers took the No. 5 and No. 6 matches by forfeit as freshman Katrina Sta Cruz (Las Vegas, Nev.) took her No. 4 match against Catterson 6-0, 6-0. Putschbach would also claim a 6-0, 6-0 victory in her No. 3 match as she defeated Samantha Bloecker. Freshman Josefina Torres Martin (Miami, Fla.) followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Danielle Bloecker in the No. 2 match and Victorsson completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the No. 1 match against Le Goupil-Maier.

Concordia (6-0, 5-0 CACC) will return to their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule tomorrow afternoon to visit Post University. First serve in Middlebury, Conn. is set for 3 p.m.
