Women's Soccer Upended by Wilmington (Del.) in Home Finale

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Concordia Clippers women's soccer team played in their final home game on Saturday afternoon as Concordia hosted Wilmington University (Del.) for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game at Holtdorf Soccer Field. The Clippers were unable to come away with the win on Senior Day as the Wildcats secured the 7-1 victory.

Prior to the start of game senior Karri Albanese (Fort Washington, Md.), graduate Amanda Astudillo (Westbury, N.Y.), and senior Catherine Gray (Land O'Lakes, Fla.) were all honored for their hard work and dedication to the women's soccer program over their careers with Concordia.

Wilmington would score three of their seven goals in the first half as the Clippers were out-shot 10-4 in the first 45 minutes of play. The Wildcats scored four more goals to lead 7-0 in the second half as Concordia would score their lone goal in the 84th minute of play off a penalty kick. Freshman Kayla Lanza (New Milford, Conn.) would take the PK for the Clippers as she found the back of the net for her first collegiate goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Christina Majdanski (Yonkers, N.Y.) recorded a career-high 13 saves for Concordia in the loss as the Clippers were out-shot 27-7 in the game. Wilmington also held a 12-0 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

Concordia (2-13-0, 2-9-0 CACC) will conclude their season on Tuesday at Nyack College.
