BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Concordia Clippers women's soccer team hosted Goldey-Beacom College in their home and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener on Saturday afternoon. The two sides would go into halftime tied, 2-2, but the Lightning would score three unanswered goals in the second half to secure the 5-2 win over Concordia.

In the first half Goldey-Beacom struck first in the sixth minute and added their second goal in the ninth minute to lead 2-0 in the early going. The Clippers would battle back to knot the score at 2-2 after sophomore Hannah Deknikker (Davis, Calif.) scored both goals for Concordia.

Her first goal came in the 26th minute after junior Lisa Lausen (Barstow, Calif.) sent a pass across the box and Deknikker chipped a shot over the Lightning goalkeeper's head. The equalizer would come in the 35th minute as sophomore Sara Calvert (Apple Valley, Calif.) dribbled down the field and sent a cross to Deknikker for a flick over the keeper's head.

The second half saw Goldey-Beacom score the go-ahead goal in the 54th minute off a long shot from the top-corner of the box. Two more goals were added in the 63rd and 76th minutes for the Lightning as the Clippers were unable to add to their total.

Concordia was out-shot 18-10 in the game as freshman Kayla Lanza (New Milford, Conn.) made five saves in goal for the Clippers. Both teams would take three corner kicks in the game.
