Clippers Drop Heart Breaker in Overtime to Holy Family, 2-1

Bronxville, N.Y. – The Concordia women's soccer team welcomed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Holy Family to Holtdorf Soccer Field on Saturday afternoon. The Clippers would play a tough game forcing an overtime period but the Tigers would net the final goal as Concordia lost a heart breaker, 2-1, in overtime.

Holy Family would get on the scoreboard in the eighth minute of play as a cross into the box by the Tigers led to a shot which found the back of the net. The Clippers would score the equalizer in the 13th minute as freshman Jennifer Forlini (Yonkers, N.Y.) sent a pass from midfield to freshman Kerrise Hanley (St. Kitts, West Indies) on a breakaway. Hanley would take a shot towards the right side of the net for her first goal of the season.

The second half would not see any scoring as the game went into overtime, Concordia's first of the season. In the overtime session it would only take 39 seconds for the game winning goal was scored, courtesy of Holy Family as the team won their fifth game of the season. Freshman goalkeeper Johana Vargas (Queens, N.Y.) recorded eight saves in the game as the Clippers were out shot 22-6.

Concordia (0-13-0, 0-10-0 CACC) will travel to Bloomfield for their final road game of the season on Wednesday. The Clippers will take to the field of Foley Field at 7pm.
