Concordia (N.Y.) Doubles Up Washington Adventist 4-2

Takoma Park, Md. – The Concordia College (N.Y.) Clippers women's soccer continued their road trip after Saturday's win playing at Washington Adventist. After being down in the first half, the Clippers rallied back to earn their second win of the season, 4-2.

Washington Adventist would find the back of the net early in the first half when Adriana Gonzalez scored an unassisted goal 2:30 into the game. Teammate Erin Sheehan-Wright would give the Shock a 2-0 advantage early into the game after her goal.

The Clippers would begin their comeback led by junior Susan Valencia who got Concordia on the board minutes before the end of the first half. This goal would give the spark needed to get back into the game.

In the beginning of the second half, junior Iyesha Ollivierre scored the game tying goal and allowed the Clippers to use the momentum and extend the lead. A minute later, Valencia would score her second goal of the game and give Concordia the 3-2 lead.

Senior Oumou Toure added an insurance goal at the 55th minute to secure the win. Junior goalkeeper Jessica Nanan made six saves and Concordia outshot the Shock 23-13 in the game. Washington Adventist goalkeepers Lucia Cortes and Tashika Russell combined for nine saves in their first game of the season.

Concordia (2-1, 0-0 CACC) will welcome Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Felician this Wednesday, September 7th. This will mark the first home game of the season with kickoff set to begin at 3pm.
