Early Goals Too Much for Concordia (N.Y.) in 2-0 Defeat

Pomona, N.Y. – The Concordia College (N.Y.) Clippers Women's Soccer team kicked off their 2011-12 season on the road against St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) this evening. In a game where the Clippers only started 10 players, Concordia still managed to play a very competitive game in the 2-0 loss.

Both goals in the game were scored by Tori Matt who was STAC's leading goal scorer from last season. She scored her first goal 13 minutes into the game after some quick passes between her and Clarissa Flores created an open net opportunity. Matt then scored again 15 minutes later for the final goal of the game.

In the second half, the Clippers were able to field 11 players and were able to keep STAC in check. Concordia was able to match their opponent shot for shot as they attempted to get back into the game. Of the seven shots on goal in the game by Concordia, six of them were on the net.

Jessica Nanan (Queens, N.Y.) played the entire game in the goal for the Clippers making eight saves while Julia Karl recorded six saves for STAC.

The Clippers (0-1, 0-0 CACC) will have a day off to prepare for their next game. Concordia will be back on the road to face Lincoln (Pa.) on Saturday, September 3rd for a 1pm kickoff.
