ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Freshman forward Jaayden Lafontant (Thiells, N.Y.) eclipsed double-digit points for the first time in her collegiate career on Saturday afternoon, leading the Concordia College New York women's basketball team in points and rebounds against Daemen College in a 70-47 setback at the Redhawks Alumni Classic hosted by Robert Wesleyan College.

• Concordia falls to 0-4.
• Daemen improves to 3-1.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Lafontant ended the contest with 12 points, seven rebounds and two steals.
• Freshman guard Marigona Bacaliu (Worcester, Mass.) recorded four assists and a personal-best four steals off the bench.
• Junior guard Shanice Graves (Brooklyn, N.Y.) chipped in 10 points and six rebounds and one block.
• Sophomore guard Sara Hopkins (Mountain Top, Pa.) contributed five rebounds and four assists.
• For Daemen, Tiara Filbert scored 16 points with six assists, six rebounds and three steals while Katie Titus logged seven rebounds and five blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Concordia opened the contest with back-to-back baskets from senior guard Nicole Nicholson (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Hopkins to lead 4-0 with 0:76 remaining in the opening quarter. Daemen ended the run with a triple, but a pair of three pointers from Graves sandwiching a Daemen basket made it 12-5 with 5:33 left in the frame. The Wildcats used a 12-2 run to take a 17-14 lead, with back-to-back baskets from Lafontant and freshman guard Christina Brown (Ardmore, Pa.) pushing the Clippers ahead 18-17 before a DC free throw with one second left ended the quarter with an 18-18 score.
• Freshman forward Eazette Bealon (New York, N.Y.) scored the Clippers first four points of the second quarter, matching Daemen basket-for-basket to keep the score tied at 22-all with 8:56 left in the half. Neither side connected on consecutive baskets until an 8-0 run by the Wildcats made it a 36-28 score with 48 seconds remaining int eh quarter. Lafontant ended the run with a layup, creating a 36-30 halftime score.
• Daemen opened the second half with a 17-0 run before a Lafontant layup ended the run and made it 53-32 with 4:06 remaining in the quarter. Nicholson followed Lafontant's layup with one of her own, only for a 9-0 run by DC to end the quarter giving them a 62-34 advantage.
• Concordia scored eight of the opening 10 points of the fourth quarter, with half the points in the run coming from Brenna Cloud (Delran, N.J.), to make it 64-42 with 5:35 left in the contest. Daemen ended the stretch with back-to-back baskets, responding to Cloud's layup with a jumper to make it 68-44 with 2:21 remaining in the game. Bacaliu added three points to the Clippers' total with a basket from beyond the arc, while DC added two off a layup to create the final score.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Clippers converted on 21-62 shots, going 3-12 from three-point territory and 2-6 from the free throw line.
• Daemen finished 28-63 from the field,7-23 from distance and 7-9 from the free throw line.
• Concordia recorded 11 assists while Damen had 21.
• DC held a 39-31 advantage in rebounds.
• Concordia committed 18 turnovers, resulting in 24 points for Daemen. The Wildcats had 18 turnovers, leading to eight points.
• Concordia recorded 12 steals with one block while DC had 12 steals with six block.
• Concordia's bench scored 13 points while the Wildcats got 17 from its bench.
