PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Trailing the entire contest on Sunday afternoon, the Concordia College New York women's basketball team rallied to make its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Chestnut Hill College a one-possession game heading into the final frame and evened the score with the opening basket of the fourth quarter but the host Griffins responded to the run while keeping the Clippers off the scoreboard late in a 62-51 setback.

• Concordia falls to 4-15, 2-8 in CACC play.
• Chestnut Hill improves to 5-12, 3-6 in league action.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Sophomore forward Sabrina Clement (Queens, N.Y.), the CACC leader in rebounds per conference game, recorded 13 boards. It is the sixth-consecutive contest Clement has pulled down double-digit rebounds.
• Junior center Amiya Rankins (Somerset, N.J.) scored a team-best 12 points.
• Freshman guard Sara Hopkins (Mountain Top, Pa.) dished out a career-high nine assists with seven rebounds, four points and three steals.
• Freshman guard Rhona McCaughey (Maspeth, N.Y.) scored a personal-best nine points.
• For Chestnut Hill, Leah Miller scored 14 points with 17 rebounds and three blocks while Cassie Sebold recorded a game-high four assists to go with 12 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Chestnut Hill scored the opening two baskets of the contest, with a pair of Hopkins free throws getting the Clippers on the scoreboard and making it 4-2 with 8:18 remaining in the first quarter. The two sides exchanged the ensuing eight points to keep it a one-possession contest at 8-6, only for a 9-2 CHC stretch creating a 17-8 advantage with 2:21 remaining. Sophomore guard Cameron Corbett (Staten Island, N.Y.) ended the run with a triple, while a sophomore forward Jordyn Hornbuckle (Hopkinsville, Ky.) layup in the final seconds of the frame made it 17-13.
• The Griffins used a 7-0 start to the second quarter to take a double-digit lead over Concordia at 24-13 with 7:36 remaining in the half. Rankins ended the run off a layup, with Hopkins cutting into the separation with a layup only for a quick 5-2 spurt extending the deficit back to 10 at 29-19 with 4:55 remaining in the quarter. A Hornbuckle basket and McCaughter triple back-to-back cut the separation in half at 29-24, with the two sides splitting the final 12 points of the half to keep the five-point gap at 35-30.
• Concordia managed to make it a one-possession contest with a Corbett layup to start the third quarter, but a 6-2 retort by the host extended its lead to 41-34 with 5:41 remaining in the quarter. Concordia held Chestnut without back-to-back baskets for the rest of the frame, outscoring the Griffins 10-5 during the stretch to make it a two-point contest going into the final quarter at 46-44.
• The Clippers evened the score for the first time with the opening basket of the fourth quarter, but the host countered with a 7-0 run to reclaim the advantage at 53-46 with 4:33 remaining in the contest. Concordia used a Corbett basket and junior guard Nicole Nicholson (Staten Island, N.Y.) three pointer to make it a one-possession game again at 53-51, but could not cut into the lead anymore as the host held Concordia without another basket for the remainder of the contest while adding nine points to its total.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Clippers converted on 21-79 shots, going 4-11 from three-point territory and 5-8 from the free throw line.
• Chestnut Hill finished 20-63 from the field, 6-24 from distance and 16-20 from the free throw line.
• The Clippers dished out 17 assists versus 15 for the host.
• Concordia committed 13 turnovers, resulting in six points for CHC. The Griffins committed 22 turnovers, leading to 14 points.
• Chestnut Hill held a 57-47 advantage in rebounds.
• Concordia got 21 points from its bench while Chestnut Hill got 16
• Concordia recorded seven steals with three blocks while Chestnut Hill stole the ball five times with eight blocks.
