WATERBURY, Conn. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team concluded their season on Saturday with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game at Post University. Concordia was unable to end their season with a victory as the Eagles edged the Clippers 67-64.
Concordia began the first quarter with a 5-1 lead as Post would tie the score at 5-5 at the 7:11 mark. The Eagles would increase their lead to six points with six minutes to go in the period, but the Clippers would battle back to knot the game at 13-13. Post ended the quarter on a 6-2 run to lead 19-15 after 10 minutes of action.
An 8-0 run for Concordia began the second period as the Clippers looked to build on their lead. The Eagles would also use a sizable run to gain control of the scoreboard as Concordia trailed 30-23 at the 4:31 mark. The Clippers wouldn't allow Post to score for the remainder of the quarter as Concordia's 7-0 run would send the two teams into the locker room tied at 30-30.
The Eagles would gain a five point advantage by the 5:55 mark of the third quarter as the Clippers worked to keep pace. Concordia ended the period on an 11-5 run as the Clippers would trail by a point, 50-49, going into the last 10 minutes of regulation.
Post increased their lead to five in the early going of the fourth quarter as Concordia battled back to tie the score at 60-60 with 4:21 remaining on the clock. The Clippers would hold a one point advantage with just under two minutes, but couldn't score again as the Eagles scored four unanswered points to edge Concordia, 67-64.
Senior Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) led the Clippers with 19 points as freshman Jordyn Hornbuckle (Hopkinsville, Ky.) came off the bench to add a career-high 11 points. Senior Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and sophomore Amiya Rankins (Somerset, N.J.) both added 10 points as Black grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season.
