Women's Basketball Drops an 81-46 Decision at Dominican (N.Y.)

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Concordia College women's basketball team traveled to Dominican (N.Y.) College on Wednesday evening for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game. The Clippers were unable to grab the road victory at the Hennessy Center as the Chargers took an 81-46 win.

Concordia came out in the first quarter with a 5-2 lead as Dominican would take their first lead of the game at the 5:44 mark, 11-10. The Clippers would go on a scoring drought for the remainder of the period as the Chargers out-scored Concordia 17-1 to lead 28-11 after 10 minutes of action.

Dominican began the second quarter with seven straight points as the Clippers scored their first points of the period with 6:59 remaining on the clock. From here the two sides combined to score 11 points as Concordia trailed 41-19 at halftime.

A 6-2 run for the Clippers would begin the third quarter as Concordia cut their deficit to 43-25 at the 6:26 mark. The Chargers would out-score the Clippers 17-3 to end the period as Dominican led 60-28.

The fourth quarter had Concordia score four straight points as the Chargers answered back with eight unanswered points to lead 68-32 at the 6:52 mark. The deficit would be too much to overcome for the Clippers as Dominican went on to take the 81-46 victory.

Sophomore Nicole Nicholson (Staten Island, N.Y.) led Concordia with 16 points as she also added two rebounds and a steal. Sophomore Amiya Rankins (Somerset, N.J.) came off the bench to add 10 points, six rebounds, and two assists as the Clippers' bench was out-scored 42-13 in the game.

Concordia (4-23, 4-14 CACC) will close out their season on Saturday afternoon at Post University.
