Concordia Women’s Basketball Upended by Felician, 66-55

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College women's basketball team returned home to the Meyer Athletic Center on Tuesday evening for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division matchup against Felician University. The Clippers were unable to snap their four game winless streak as the Golden Falcons took the 66-55 victory.

Both sides struggled early in the first quarter as Felician would lead 9-2 at the 4:54 mark. Concordia would make a run near the end of the first period, but the visitors maintained a 16-11 advantage after 10 minutes of action.

In the second quarter the Clippers battled their way back to knot the score at 21-21 with 5:57 remaining on the clock. After a quick lead for Concordia, the Golden Falcons regained the advantage and led 32-26 at the 2:56 mark. Each team scored two points to end the half as the Clippers trailed 34-28 at the break.

Concordia would chip away at the deficit in the third quarter and with 3:15 remaining were within four points at 42-38. A 7-1 run for Felician to end the period would give the Golden Falcons a 10 point advantage, 49-39.

The fourth quarter began with the Clippers using a 6-2 run to bring the score to 51-45 at the 8:25 mark. Felician would regain their double digit advantage, but Concordia were within six points with 2:09 to go, 59-53. The Clippers were unable to complete the comeback as the Golden Falcons held on for the 66-55 win.

Sophomore Nicole Nicholson (Staten Island, N.Y.) led Concordia with 18 points while adding two rebounds and two assists as senior Lyric Blanch (Kingston, N.Y.) came off the bench to score a season-high 16 points and added five rebounds and two steals. Senior Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) would finish with a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Clippers (3-22, 3-13 CACC) will play in their final home game of the season on Saturday afternoon against Holy Family University.
