Clippers Women's Basketball Falls at Bloomfield in CACC Play, 77-48

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team traveled to face Bloomfield College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game on Tuesday evening. Concordia was unable to earn the road victory as the Bears took a 77-48 win.

Bloomfield began the first quarter with eight unanswered points as the Clippers found themselves down 12-3 at the 5:46 mark. The Bears continued their strong offensive play by outscoring Concordia 15-6 for the remainder of the period as the Clippers trailed 27-9 after 10 minutes of action.

Concordia began the second quarter on a 5-2 run and with 6:36 remaining on the clock were down 33-19. The Clippers would cut their deficit to 10, 35-25, but Bloomfield ended the period on a 7-3 run as Concordia went into the locker room trailing 42-28.

The Bears started the third quarter with six unanswered points to lead 48-28 at the 7:15 mark. The two sides would alternate points as the Clippers couldn't cut into the deficit and trailed 60-41 after the third period.

A quick layup to begin the fourth quarter for Concordia was followed by 10 straight points for Bloomfield as the Clippers were behind 70-43. Concordia was unable to mount a late comeback as the Bears took the 77-48 victory.

Senior Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Clippers with 17 points, seven rebounds, and six blocks as sophomore Amiya Rankins (Somerset, N.J.) added 12 points, four assists, and two rebounds.

Concordia (3-19, 3-10 CACC) will return home on Saturday to face the University of the Sciences, the 19th-ranked program in NCAA Division II.
