Women's Basketball Falls at Home to Caldwell, 82-56

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team returned home on Monday afternoon to host Caldwell University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game at the Meyer Athletic Center. Concordia was unable to keep pace with the Cougars as the visitors took an 82-56 win.

Caldwell began the first quarter with a 6-2 advantage and by the midway point through the period led 12-6. The Clippers would get within two, 12-10, but the Cougars ended the quarter on a 9-0 run to lead 21-10 after 10 minutes of action.

In the second quarter Caldwell extended their lead to 27-12 as Concordia found themselves down by 18 with three minutes to go in the period. The Cougars ended the quarter scoring five of the final eight points as the Clippers went into the locker room trailing 44-24.

Concordia scored the first six points of the third quarter to cut their deficit to 44-30, but Caldwell answered with a 13-2 run to lead 57-32 at the 4:23 mark. After a timeout, the Clippers scored seven straight points to get their offense going again. The Cougars closed out the period with eight unanswered points as Concordia trailed 65-39.

The fourth quarter saw Caldwell extend their advantage to 34 points at the 6:08 mark as the Clippers were unable to mount a sizable comeback. Concordia would end the game on an 11-4 run, but the Cougars took the 82-56 victory.

Sophomore Nicole Nicholson (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Clippers with 14 points as she also added four rebounds and a steal. Freshman Cameron Corbett (Staten Island, N.Y.) came off the bench to add 11 points and four rebounds as senior Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished with a game-high 11 rebounds.

Concordia (2-16, 2-7 CACC) will next travel to Jefferson University on Sunday afternoon for a CACC game in Philadelphia, Pa.
