Women's Basketball Upended by CACC Foe Dominican (N.Y.), 68-43

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team returned home on Tuesday evening to host Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Dominican College (N.Y.) Concordia would be upended by the Chargers, 68-43, in the Meyer Athletic Center.

The Clippers would grab an early lead in the first quarter, 5-2, as Dominican would battle to take an 8-7 lead at the 5:31 mark. Concordia was held scoreless for the remainder of the period as the Chargers scored eight more points to lead 16-7 after 10 minutes of action.

Dominican continued to add to their total in the second quarter as the Clippers broke their scoreless drought at the 7:19 mark. The visitors would increase their lead to 26-13 with 3:47 to go in the period as Concordia out-scored the Chargers 4-2 to end the half, but went into the locker room trailing 28-17.

The Clippers would struggle offensively to begin the third quarter as Dominican used a 10-1 run to open up a 38-18 advantage at the 6:58 mark. Concordia would cut their deficit to 14 on a few occasions in the period, but the Chargers led 52-34 after three quarters.

Dominican led 66-39 at the midway point of the fourth quarter, their largest lead of the game. The Clippers were unable to mount a comeback in the closing minutes as the Chargers took the 68-43 win.

Sophomore Nicole Nicholson (Staten Island, N.Y.) led Concordia with a career-high 14 points as she also added three steals and two rebounds. Redshirt-junior Brianna Hendrick (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and freshman Saundra Cleckley (Queens, N.Y.) each added six points while senior Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) chipped in with five points and a game-high 15 rebounds.

The Clippers (0-9, 0-2 CACC) will return to action on Saturday to host Post University for a CACC North Division game.
