Concordia Women's Basketball Captures a 70-69 Victory Over Post in Final Home Game of the Regular Season

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College women's basketball team captured a 70-69 victory at home against Post University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) thriller at the Meyer Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.

Prior to the start of the game seniors Paige Corkins (Copiague, N.Y.), Jennifer Forlini (Yonkers, N.Y.), Rebecca Gordon (Patchogue, N.Y.), Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.), and Victoria Rubin (Staten Island, N.Y.) were all honored for their hard work and dedication to the women's basketball program over their careers with the Clippers.

In the first quarter Concordia would jump out to a 7-0 lead only to have the Eagles respond with seven unanswered points of their own to tie the score at the 6:21 mark. The Clippers would open up a five point advantage, but once again Post would tie the score with a run of their own with 4:31 to go in the period. Concordia ended the quarter on an 8-4 run as the Clippers led 20-16 after 10 minutes of action.

Concordia began the second quarter with a 12-3 run as the Clippers would open up their first double digit lead at 32-19 at the 3:50 mark. From here Concordia would score five of the next nine points as the Clippers went into the locker room with a 37-23 advantage.

The third quarter saw the Eagles mount a comeback as the visitors would get to within a point, 43-42, at the 4:09 mark. Five straight points for Concordia would give them some breathing room as from here the Clippers would end the quarter on a 10-4 run to hold the 58-47 lead after the third period.

After a pair of layups to begin the fourth, Post scored 10 of the next 12 points to cut their deficit to 62-57 with just under six minutes to go in regulation. The Eagles would get to within a point at the 1:18 mark, 68-67, as junior Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) would connect on an important layup with 51 seconds to go.

The Eagles would draw a foul in their next possession and converted on both free throws to get within one again with 32 seconds remaining. A steal for Post would give the visitors one last chance, but were unable to make a shot with two seconds left on the clock as Concordia held on for the 70-69 win.

Rosalbo led the Clippers with a career-high 33 points as she also added five rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Junior Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) chipped in with 11 points as Black came off the bench to record a game-high 12 rebounds and three blocks.

Concordia (8-18, 8-10 CACC) will conclude their regular season on Tuesday evening at Caldwell University in a CACC North Division game.
