Clippers Women's Basketball Defeated by Dominican (N.Y.), 70-53

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team returned home to host Dominican College (N.Y.) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game on Tuesday evening. Concordia was unable to come away with the victory as the Chargers took a 70-53 win in the Meyer Athletic Center.

In the first quarter the Clippers jumped out to the early 6-2 lead as a 10-0 run would give Dominican the 12-6 advantage at the 3:55 mark. A pair of free throws would snap the scoreless drought for Concordia, but the Chargers ended the period on a 9-2 to hold the 21-10 lead after 10 minutes of action.

The second quarter saw the Clippers cut their deficit to five at 23-18 just over a minute and a half into the period. An 8-3 run later on for Concordia would bring them within a basket at the 5:24 mark, 28-26. Dominican would pull away with eight of the next 10 points as the Chargers went into the locker room with a 36-28 lead.

A 7-2 for Dominican to begin the third quarter would put the visitors ahead by double digits. The Chargers continued their strong offensive play, ending the period on a 10-3 run as the Clippers trailed 53-35 after the third.

Concordia out-scored Dominican early in the fourth quarter, but the Chargers would maintain their double digit advantage. The Clippers were unable to mount a late comeback as Dominican took the 70-53 victory.

Junior Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) led Concordia with 13 points while junior Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 10 points and a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with a team-best three assists.
