Concordia Women's Basketball Edged at Holy Family, 56-55

PHILADELPHIA – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team was edged at Holy Family University in their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Saturday afternoon, 56-55.

In the first quarter there would be four lead changes in the first four minutes of action as neither side was able to take a sizable advantage. Concordia would use a 9-2 run to take a 15-9 lead at the 2:12 mark, and would end the first period with an 18-14 advantage.

A 7-2 run for the Tigers began the second quarter as the home team held a 21-20 lead with 5:07 to go. The Clippers finished the period with an 11-5 run as Concordia went into the locker room with a 31-26 advantage.

The third quarter began with Holy Family coming out with an 11-2 run as the Clippers called a timeout at the 6:10 mark, trailing 37-33. Following the short break Concordia scored 10 of the next 12 points as the Clippers regained their advantage, 43-39. A 5-2 run ended the period for the Tigers, but Concordia maintained the lead at 45-44.

Holy Family would take a five point lead early in the fourth quarter as the Clippers scored eight unanswered points to hold a 55-52 advantage at the 1:53 mark. The Tigers scored a field goal with 1:29 remaining to go to trail by a point and drew a foul with 1.6 remaining. Holy Family knocked down both free throws to take the one point lead as Concordia was unable to get off a game-winning shot, as the Tigers edged the Clippers 56-55.

Junior Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) led Concordia with 17 points as senior Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) added 13 points, six assists, and five rebounds. Junior Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) chipped in with nine points and a team-best nine rebounds to go along with five assists.

The Clippers (4-13, 4-5 CACC) will have a week off until their next game as Concordia visits Bloomfield for a CACC North Division showdown.
