Clippers Women's Basketball Drops Road Game to CACC Foe USciences, 46-34

PHILADELPHIA – The Concordia College women's basketball team visited one of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's (CACC) best teams, the USciences Devils on Tuesday evening. The Clippers were unable to pull off the upset as USciences secured the 46-34 win at Bobby Morgan Arena.

In the first quarter Concordia jumped out to the early 5-2 lead as the Devils answered with four straight points to hold the 6-5 advantage at the 7:31 mark. Seven unanswered points for the Clippers would follow as they held a 12-6 lead with under five minutes to go in the period. USciences would end the quarter on a 6-2 run, but Concordia maintained their lead after 10 minutes of action, 14-12.

The second quarter saw both teams go scoreless for the first 6:41 of play until the home team converted on a layup to knot the score at 14-14. The Clippers would be held scoreless for the entire period as as the Devils added seven more points to go into the locker room with a 21-14 advantage.

USciences would increase their lead to nine points in the third quarter as Concordia would battle their way back to a five point deficit at the 4:24 mark. The Devils ended the period on a 9-4 run as the Clippers trailed 34-24 after three quarters.

In the fourth quarter USciences began with four straight points as Concordia broke their scoring drought with a basket at the 5:28 mark. An 8-0 run for the Clippers later in the period would bring the score to 41-34 as Concordia looked to complete the comeback. The Devils would not allow the Clippers to get any closer as USciences secured the 46-34 win.

Senior Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) led Concordia with 11 points as she added five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Juniors Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) and Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) both added seven points as Black recorded a team-high six rebounds for the Clippers.

Concordia (4-12, 4-4 CACC) will return to Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon to take on Holy Family University.
