Women's Basketball Upended, 62-51, by Goldey-Beacom

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team hosted Goldey-Beacom College for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game in the Meyer Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon. Concordia was unable to pick up the victory as the Lightning secured a 62-51 win.

The first quarter began with Goldey-Beacom taking the early 10-3 lead at the 4:35 mark. The Clippers ended the period on an 8-6 run as Concordia cut their deficit to 16-11 after 10 minutes of play.

The Clippers would come out in the second quarter on a 6-2 run as Concordia trailed 18-17 with 4:44 to go until halftime. By the 3:43 mark the Clippers knotted the score at 20-20 following a three-point basket by junior Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) as the two sides would remain deadlocked at 26-26 at the half.

In the third quarter the Lightning used a 13-2 run to gain a double digit lead at 39-28 at the 5:21 mark. The visitors extended their advantage to 46-33 as Concordia scored seven of the last eight points in the period to trail 47-40 going into the final quarter.

The Clippers used their three-point shooting to get back into the game as Concordia was down 56-50 with 3:01 to go in the game. Goldey-Beacom scored four unanswered points to regain their double digit advantage. The Clippers were unable to mount a late comeback as the Lightning took the 62-51 victory.

Senior Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) and junior Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) both scored 16 points for Concordia as Rosalbo added six assists, four rebounds and two steals while Wilkinson added two steals. Black finished with a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with eight points as the Clippers were out-scored 32-20 in the paint.

Concordia (4-11, 4-3 CACC) will be on the road for their next three games as the Clippers visit USciences on Tuesday evening.
