Rosalbo Nets 1,000th Career Point in 77-72 Victory for Clippers Women’s Basketball

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Senior Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) recorded her 1,000th career collegiate point at Concordia on Wednesday evening in a 77-72 victory at home against Georgian Court University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.

Rosalbo becomes the eighth member of the 1,000 point club for the women's basketball program since the 1996-97 season according to historical records. Jessica scored her 1,000th point with 3:46 remaining in the second quarter as she led Concordia with 19 points on the evening.

In the first quarter the two sides would alternate the lead multiple times until a 6-2 run would give the Clippers a 10-7 lead at the 4:34 mark. From here the teams combined for six three-point baskets as Concordia would maintain their slight advantage, 19-16, after 10 minutes of action.

The second quarter saw the Lions begin with an 11-2 run to hold a 27-21 lead with 6:03 to go in the half. The Clippers responded with 13 unanswered points as Concordia regained their advantage. Georgian Court broke their scoring drought with a three-pointer in the closing seconds, but the Clippers would go into the locker room with a 34-30 lead.

Concordia maintained their lead in the third quarter as the Lions would get within striking distance, but the Clippers would hold an eight point lead at the 3:04 mark. Concordia continued with their up-temp offense in the closing moments of the period as the Clippers would take a 52-44 advantage into the final quarter.

In the fourth, Concordia extended their lead to 13 points, 65-52, following a 6-0 run at the 5:12 mark. Georgian Court would slowly cut into their deficit and with 59 seconds to go trailed 70-69. The Clippers would make their free throws in the closing seconds, shooting 81.8% from the line in the game, as Concordia held on for the 77-72 win.

Rosalbo added five rebounds, three assists, and two steals to go with her 19 points as junior Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) finished with 16 points. Freshman Amiya Rankins (Somerset, N.J.) came off the bench to tie her career-high of 15 points while adding seven rebounds as junior Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded her second double-double of the season with 14 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

The Clippers (4-10, 4-2 CACC) will next host Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday afternoon in a league game.
