Wilkinson's Career-High 39 Points Leads Women's Basketball to a 74-65 Victory at Post

WATERBURY, Conn. – Junior Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) recorded a career-high 39 points on Sunday afternoon for the Concordia Clippers women's basketball team as they earned a 74-65 victory at Post University in their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game.

In the first quarter Concordia would jump out to an early 8-2 lead to gain control of the scoreboard over the Eagles at the 6:47 mark. The Clippers continued to open up their advantage as Concordia would score 14 of the last 17 points to hold a 22-5 lead after 10 minutes of play.

The second quarter saw the Clippers begin with a 6-3 run, but Post would then begin to cut into their deficit after trailing 28-8 with 6:14 to go. The Eagles would out-score Concordia 21-4 for the remainder of the half as the Clippers' lead was cut to 32-29 at halftime.

Post scored the first four points of the third quarter to take their first lead of the game, 33-32. The two teams would remain close on the scoreboard until Concordia used a 13-2 run to open up a 49-40 advantage with 2:30 to go in the period. The Eagles would score four of the last six points of the quarter as the Clippers held 57-49 lead going into the last period.

In the fourth quarter Post would cut their deficit to five points, but Concordia scored nine unanswered points to regain a sizable lead at 66-52 at the 6:05 mark. Eight straight points for the Eagles would follow as the Clippers' lead was cut to 66-60 with just over two minutes to go. Concordia would not allow Post to complete their comeback as the Clippers held on for the 74-65 win.

Wilkinson's 39 points are the most for Concordia since current assistant coach Krystina Agard scored 36 points for the Clippers on February 14, 2013. Senior Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) added 10 points, four assists, and three steals as Jessica currently has 979 points. Junior Lyric Blanch (Kingston, N.Y.) chipped in with 10 points and a team-high five rebounds.

Concordia (3-9, 3-2 CACC) will be off for the holiday break until their next game on Friday, December 30th at Southern New Hampshire.
