Women's Basketball Captures a 75-67 Victory at Home Over Nyack in CACC Action

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team earned their first victory of the season on Wednesday evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division showdown against Nyack College. Concordia would capture the 75-67 victory in the Meyer Athletic Center to snap a five-game losing skid.

In the opening quarter the Clippers would jump out to the early 10-4 advantage as Concordia would extend their lead to 16-11 with 2:19 remaining in the period. The Warriors ended the quarter on a 5-2 run, but the Clippers maintained the 18-16 advantage after 10 minutes of play.

Concordia used a strong defensive performance in the second quarter to build a substantial lead. The Clippers out-scored Nyack 20-2 in the period as the Warriors scored their only points at the 2:36 mark off a layup as Concordia would go into the locker room with a 38-18 advantage.

Nyack would slowly cut into their deficit in the third quarter as a 12-7 run for the Warriors brought them to within 15 points at the 4:46 mark, 45-30. The Clippers would regain their 20-point lead after five unanswered points as Concordia ended the third period with a 53-36 lead.

In the final quarter the visitors would use a 21-10 run to cut their deficit to six points at 63-57 with 3:12 to go in the game. The Clippers used strong free throw shooting to not relinquish their advantage as Concordia ended the period with 10 free throw points to take the 75-67 victory over Nyack.

Senior Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Clippers with a season-high 20 points as she also had six rebounds, a season-best five assists, and two steals. Junior Lyric Blanch (Kingston, N.Y.) would score a career-high 18 points for Concordia to go along with 18 points as junior Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) chipped in with 14 points for her fourth consecutive double-figure performance and a season-best four assists. Freshman Amiya Rankins (Somerset, N.J.) came off the bench to score a career-high 12 points to go along with seven rebounds while junior Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with eight points.

The Clippers (1-5, 1-1 CACC) will next visit Dominican (N.Y.) on Saturday afternoon for a CACC North Division matchup in Orangeburg, N.Y.
