Concordia Women's Basketball Upended at St. Thomas Aquinas, 60-33

SPARKILL, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team continued their four-game road trip to begin the season on Thursday evening as Concordia visited St. Thomas Aquinas in a non-conference game. The Clippers were upended by the Spartans, 60-33, at Aquinas Hall Gymnasium.

Concordia began the game with a 2-1 lead as STAC used a 9-2 run to open up a 10-4 advantage with 2:53 to go in the first quarter. The Clippers were the only team to score a point for the remainder of the period as the Spartans held a 10-5 lead after 10 minutes of play.

In the second quarter STAC scored 16 of the first 18 points as the home team held a 26-7 advantage with three minutes to go before halftime. Concordia ended the period with a 4-2 run, but the Spartans went into the locker room with a 28-11 lead.

The Clippers were unable to score early in the third quarter as STAC began the period with a 6-0 run. Concordia then scored five unanswered points to trail 34-16 with 5:35 to go in the quarter. The Spartans continued to control the scoreboard as STAC ended the period on a 12-6 run to maintain a 46-22 lead.

The Clippers scored the first four points of the fourth quarter as Concordia began the period with a 7-4 run with the Spartans leading 50-29 with 6:38 remaining in the game. STAC would not allow the Clippers to get any closer as the Spartans ended the game on a 10-4 run to take the 60-33 win.

Senior Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) led Concordia with 11 points while adding six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Junior Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) chipped in with 10 points as she had three rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Junior Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded a season-high 18 rebounds and a career-best six blocks while adding four points to her total.

The Clippers (0-4) will open up their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule on Tuesday evening in the Meyer Athletic Center for their first home game of the season.
