Concordia Women's Basketball Concludes Season with 80-68 Defeat at Post

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team concluded their season on Saturday afternoon on the road against Post University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action. Concordia was unable to cap their season with a victory as the Eagles captured a 80-68 win.

The first quarter began with Post jumping out to a 7-3 lead by the 7:49 mark. The Clippers responded with five unanswered points to take an 8-7 advantage with about six minutes to play in the period. The Eagles ended the quarter on a 14-5 run as Concordia trailed 23-15 after 10 minutes of play.

In the second quarter saw the Clippers begin with a 5-1 run as they would cut their deficit to 24-20 at the 7:31 mark. Post would respond with a 10-2 run to regain a 34-22 advantage with 2:42 remaining in the half. The two sides traded points to end the period of Concordia went into the locker room trailing 38-26.

A 6-2 run for the Clippers began the third quarter as Concordia cut their deficit to single digits, 40-32. Later in the period the Eagles would use a 6-2 run of their own to gain their double-digit advantage back. The Clippers concluded the quarter on an 8-2 run as they were within six points, 54-48, going into the final period.

Post worked to regain their double-digit lead once again by the 6:17 mark of the fourth quarter. Concordia would then use a 5-2 run to get within 65-58 with 5:19 to go. The Clippers were unable to complete the comeback as the Eagles held on for the 80-68 victory.

Sophomore Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) led Concordia with 18 points while Courtney Fleming (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 13 points and senior Khadijah Donaldson (Valley Stream, N.Y.) chipped in with 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
