Clippers Women's Basketball Edged at Georgian Court, 61-57

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team visited Georgian Court University on Saturday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). Concordia would battle down to the wire against the Lions, but were edged 61-57 at the GCU Wellness Center.

The first quarter began with the Clippers jumping out to an early 6-2 lead until Georgian Court responded with five unanswered points to take a 7-6 advantage. The Lions continued to open up their lead on the scoreboard and at the end of 10 minutes led Concordia 17-13.

In the second quarter Georgian Court led by eight points, 23-15, at the 7:35 mark as the Clippers would come back to tie the score at 23-23 with 3:36 to play in the half. Concordia ended the period on a 7-4 run as the Clippers went into the locker room with a 30-27 lead.

The Lions came out in the third quarter with 10 straight points to hold a 37-30 advantage. Concordia broke their scoreless drought at the 6:29 mark to begin a 7-1 run as the Clippers trailed 38-37 midway through the period. Concordia held their ground to close out the quarter as Georgian Court led 43-41 going into the fourth.

In the final period the two sides combined for eight lead changes and six occasions where the score was tied. The Clippers would take a 48-45 lead until the Lions used a 5-2 run to knot the score at 50-50 with 4:41 to go. Concordia continued to battle and with under two minutes to play held a 57-55 advantage. From here the Clippers would go scoreless as Georgian Court ended with six straight points to take the 61-57 victory.

Junior Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Clippers with 13 points while adding eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals as both sophomore Brianna Hendrick (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and freshman Courtney Fleming (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had 10 points apiece. Sophomore Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded a team-high 11 rebounds while adding six points and three blocks.

Concordia (4-20, 2-15 CACC) will return home for their final home game of the season on Wednesday, February 17th.
