Concordia Women's Basketball Falls to Dominican (N.Y.), 69-54, in CACC Action

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College women's basketball team hosted Dominican College (N.Y.) for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division showdown on Tuesday evening. The Clippers were unable to come away with the victory in the Meyer Athletic Center as the Chargers held on for the 69-54 win.

The first quarter began with Dominican jumping out to an early 10-5 advantage as Concordia used a 4-0 run to get within a point at the 2:29 mark. From here the Chargers ended the period on an 8-2 run as the Clippers trailed after 10 minutes, 18-11.

The Chargers would extend their lead to 27-12 with eight minutes remaining in the second quarter as Concordia would use a strong 17-4 run to get within a basket, 31-29, with 3:07 to go in the half. The Clippers could not get any closer as Dominican went into the locker room with a 35-33 advantage.

Concordia came out in the third quarter tying the game up at 35-35, but the Chargers would use an 8-0 run to regain their lead, 43-35, at the 5:15 mark. Dominican continued to take control on the scoreboard for the remainder of the period as the Clippers found themselves trailing 50-40 with one quarter to go.

In the final quarter Concordia would cut their deficit to single digits on three occasions. The Clippers would not be able to mount a late comeback as the Chargers would go on to take the 69-54 win.

Sophomore Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) came off the bench to lead Concordia with 15 points as she also had a career-high five steals. Junior Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) would lead the starters with 12 points as she also added five rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Sophomore Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded a team-high 11 rebounds while adding six points.

The Clippers (4-19, 2-14 CACC) will be on the road for their next game on Saturday, February 13th.
