Concordia Women's Basketball Falls at Home to USciences, 61-48

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team hosted the University of the Sciences on Saturday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup at the Meyer Athletic Center. Concordia was unable to come away with the victory as the Devils secured the 61-48 win.

In the first quarter, USciences began with a 7-2 lead as the Clippers would knot the score at 7-7 at the 4:04 mark. Concordia would grab their first lead at 11-9 with 2:08 remaining in the period as the Clippers ended the quarter with a 13-9 advantage.

Concordia extended their lead to 17-9 to begin the second quarter, but a 9-2 run for the Devils allowed the away team to cut their deficit to a point, 19-18, with under five minutes to go in the half. Both teams would keep the score close for the remainder of the period and went into the locker room tied 25-25.

The third quarter saw USciences come out with 12 unanswered points as the Clippers broke their scoreless drought at the 4:25 mark. The Devils would continue to extend their lead as USciences ended the period on a 10-1 run to go into the last quarter with a 47-27 advantage.

Concordia would use a 7-2 run to begin a scoring run in the fourth quarter and 12 unanswered points cut the deficit to seven at 55-48 with under a minute to go in the game. The Clippers were unable to complete the comeback as the Devils held on for the 61-48 victory.

Sophomore Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) came off the bench for Concordia to score a season-high 24 points while junior Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) added 10 points, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Sophomore Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a team-high 11 rebounds to go along with eight points.

The Clippers (4-16, 2-11 CACC) will next travel to Bloomfield College on Wednesday, February 3rd for a CACC North Division game.
