Women's Basketball Drops 43-38 Decision to Felician

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team returned home for the first of three home games this week in the Meyer Athletic Center. Concordia would drop a 43-38 decision to Felician University on Tuesday evening to split the season series in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division action.

The two teams came out in the first quarter neck-and-neck with neither side able to take a sizable advantage on the scoreboard. About midway through the period Felician would use an 8-0 run to open up a 12-4 lead. The Clippers ended the quarter with four of the last six points, but the Golden Falcons held a 14-8 advantage after 10 minutes of play.

In the second quarter both sides would trade baskets through a majority of the period. Felician ended the period with a 5-2 run as Concordia went into the locker room trailing 23-14.

The Clippers came out in the third quarter with a 6-2 to get within five points, 25-20, but the Golden Falcons responded with a 6-2 run of their own to regain their nine point advantage. Concordia ended the period on a 4-0 run while holding Felician scoreless over the last 2:54 of the quarter as the Clippers trailed 31-26 with one quarter remaining.

Concordia battled their way to within a basket at the 3:40 mark of the fourth quarter as the Clippers looked to complete the comeback. A three-point play for the Golden Falcons at the 3:20 mark allowed the visitors to hold a 39-34 advantage. Concordia was unable to catch Felician as the Golden Falcons held on for the 43-38 win.

Sophomore Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) came off the bench for the Clippers to lead the offense with 10 points while sophomore Brianna Hendrick (Valley Stream, N.Y.) added eight points and a season-high 12 rebounds.
