Concordia Women's Basketball Upended at Home by Chestnut Hill, 69-61

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia College women's basketball team hosted Chestnut Hill College on Saturday for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup in the Meyer Athletic Center. The Clippers were unable to come away with the victory as the Griffins took a 69-61 win.

Chestnut Hill began the first quarter with a 7-2 lead as Concordia would use an 8-2 run to take a 10-9 advantage. The Griffins would end the period on a 5-2 run as the Clippers trailed 14-12 after 10 minutes of play.

In the second quarter Concordia began with five straight points to regain the lead and held the advantage for a majority of the period. Chestnut Hill would take a 25-24 lead after a 4-0 run at the 3:03 mark. The Clippers ended the half with a last second layup from senior Jennifer Forlini (Yonkers, N.Y.) as the two teams went into the locker room tied 29-29.

The third quarter had Concordia begin with a 6-2 run to open up a 35-31 lead, but the Griffins responded with an 8-2 run to regain a 39-37 advantage. Chestnut Hill outscored the Clippers 6-4 to finish the period with a 45-43 lead.

Chestnut Hill came out in the fourth quarter with an 12-4 run to take a double digit advantage at 57-47. Concordia would not let the deficit get any larger as their 9-2 run brought them within a basket at the 4:21 mark, 59-57. Six unanswered points for the Griffins allowed them to gain some breathing room as Chestnut Hill ended the game with four straight points to take a 69-61 win.

Sophomore Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) led the Clippers with 16 points and three steals while senior Khadijah Donaldson (Valley Stream, N.Y.) came off the bench to score 12 points. Sophomore Brianna Hendrick (Valley Stream, N.Y.) finished with a team-high 11 rebounds.
