Concordia Women's Basketball's Winning Streak Comes to an End After a 62-40 Loss at Pace

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Concordia Clippers women's basketball team closed out the 2015 calendar year with a non-conference game at Pace University on Friday evening. Concordia's winning streak would be snapped as the Setters took a 62-40 victory at the Goldstein Fitness Center.

The first quarter began with Pace jumping out to the early 6-2 lead and midway through the period the Clippers were trailing 12-4. Concordia broke a 3:29 scoreless drought with a quick layup, but the Setters held a 16-8 advantage at the end of the quarter.

Both teams came out in the second quarter trading points for the first three and a half minutes. Pace would then score 13 unanswered points to hold a 35-14 lead with 2:07 remaining in the half. The Clippers broke their drought at the 1:31 mark and ended the period with the final five points as the Setters went into the locker room with a 35-19 lead.

Pace continued to open up a sizable advantage in to begin the third quarter as their 14-2 run allowed them to hold a 49-21 lead at the 6:14 mark. Concordia would use a 4-0 run to begin a change in the momentum, and then both sides ended the period with five points apiece as the Clippers trailed 54-30 after three quarters.

In the fourth quarter Concordia came out with a 5-2 scoring advantage as the Clippers looked to mount a late comeback. Neither side would be able to score often in the closing moments as the teams combined for 11 total points over the final six and a half minutes. The Setters would snap Concordia's two-game winning streak as the Clippers fell 62-40.

Sophomore Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y.) led Concordia with a season-high 20 points off the bench while adding four rebounds in 28 minutes of action. Junior Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) chipped in with seven points, six rebounds, and team-highs of three assists and two steals.

The Clippers (3-7) will be off for the next two-plus weeks for the holiday break as the program will not be back in action until Monday, January 4th. Concordia will continue non-conference play with a road game at Southern N.H.
